Actor
Rick Skye is a multi-award-winning performer who has enjoyed success both in the U.S. and the West End. Training with the Joffrey Ballet and the famed Stella Adler, Rick toured the US with Ann Reinking and Sandy Duncan in "The American Dance Machine Show" and appeared with them on the PBS “Omnibus” series hosted by Gwen Verdon. He toured the U.S. in a production of "Lady Liberty" and acted with Dorothy Louden in a role written especially for him by Paul Zindel in "Danny and Della" at the Circle in the Square. He did a stint on "All My Children", appeared in the film "The Cater Waiter" starring David Drake and sang on CBS TV’s “Brought to You by Santa”, hosted by Mark Mckuen. He recently starred in “Sleep at Your Own Risk” a new comedy by Mathew Ethan Davis and then played “Kenny Canasta”, the flamboyant Villain in “City and The Beast”, now streaming on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
Cabaret and Revues
His friendship with Neil Sedaka led to his writing and starring in "The Flip Side of Neil Sedaka" (the tribute with a twist), which earned him a Backstage Bistro Award for “Best Musical Comedy Performance”. His revue, "MaCabaret - a tabloid fable" ran for nine months in New York and spawned his hit show He created an original revue entitled "The War of the Mama Roses - the Ultimate Audtion for GYPSY" starring some of the world's foremost impersonators and which enjoyed two successful runs in New York. Rick wrote special material and guest starred in “Bawdy - off Broadway’s Biggest Little Vaudeville”, starring Jesse Luttrell at The Triad Theater. He wrote and headlined “Bazazz – A Sequined Variety” for one season in New York, directed Alt Cabaret Star “Lykken” in his show “Sacred Monster" and was featured in Frank DeCaro's book, "Drag! Under the Big Wigs of Show Business".
Madame with an E!
His show, "It’s Madame with an E" had Rick starring opposite the legendary "Madame" of "Wayland Flowers and Madame" fame. That show played to "sold out" houses at Resorts International Hotel and Casino, Feinstein's at the Regency, The SunCoast Casino in Las Vegas, the Razz Room in San Francisco and the Post Office Cabaret in Provincetown.
A Slice O' Minnelli
His hit show "A Slice O' Minnelli" has enjoyed successful seasons at the Apollo Theatre in London's West End, The Dublin and Edinburgh Festivals, and from cities New York to Chicago. Critics called it "Masterful...Astonishing...Brilliant (Chicago Sun Times) and it has earned him a MAC Award for Best Impersonation - 2006, the "Best Achievement in Performance" Award at the 2007 Dublin Theatre Festival and the Terrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe.
His Solo show "Liza Live!" ran for several seasons in New York winning a MAC Award for "Best Impersonation" and the BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award and then played the “Crazy Coqs” Cabaret in London. "Judy and Liza Together Again” teamed Rick with the celebrated Tommy Femia (as Judy Garland) and that show ran for 7 years and played throughout the United States, earning them a MAC Award as “Best Duo”.
